How would you like to learn about a Mans expression of love that never disappoints? I must admit, it took me a while to figure it all out. I used to be perplexed. I wanted him to reassure me that he loved me by vocalizing it daily in my ears like others had in the past. Even when they were lying, was absent or abusive, they still told me they loved me. It had become a customary word in my relationships.
But with this man, the more time I spent getting to know him the greater our relationship. As a result, I stopped pondering, accepted his unconditional love and gained an immense appreciation for him. This man was different. He stood out from the rest. He was not all talk. Rather, his actions spoke louder than untrustworthy words. He had no regards for what I said, yet he still loved me. It was not about the way I styled my hair, the clothes I flaunted, nor the way I looked, his love endured forever. When he was angered by my sinful nature, I’d humbly approach him and he forgave me when I fell short of his expectation. I had finally met someone who displayed unfailing love.
What is Love?
His availability to my needs exceeds my expectation. When I had surgery, it surprised me that some family and friends were absent. But, he made me feel so secure, peaceful, encouraged, and joyful. Ultimately, their presence was not needed. I called on him day and night. He was present. When I was disheartened, he showed up. In my sickness, he comforted me. This wonderful, faithful, compassionate, loving man never left my side. I learned that flattering pretty words does not display love, it’s a mans action.
In order to understand what love is we should look at what it is not. I have learned that when you know what not to do it makes it easier to do that which is right. “4 …It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)
Wow! That is a lot to swallow. How is it humanly possible that anyone could live up to those standards? We battle with pride, anger, hatred, and unforgiveness all the time, especially during the holidays. In fact, some of us become self-centered, immature, or inconsiderate of the other persons feelings when things do not go according to our plans. Ultimately, we can all use a bit of improvement as we strive to live a daily life filled with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control, all the qualities he has demonstrated.
This is Love…
“Love is patient, love is kind, it always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres, Love never fails.” The man in my life, whom I love, love, love, has shown me, through his actions, all this love. He is my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I wrote this Love letter for him. (1 Corinthians 13 )
I hope #ThisisLove inspires you to love even those who are unkind, difficult, or lost. Then, take a moment to reflect on these expressions about real love and how you can daily replicate these actions.
Thank you so much for stopping by to read. Thank you for being with me on this journey. Who in your life has shown you enduring love? If you can, write them a love letter and thank them for their love. Then share whom that person is, I’d like to hear!
